These graphics come from the Time-Life Science Library book Man and Space. It was published in 1966 during ramp up to the moon missions.

Ladybug Wreckage

In the course of working on my current project (To Know the Spiders), I have spent a great deal of time exploring the peripheral spaces of my own house. In these spaces I have found and photographed a number of dead insects (and other invertebrates). This ladybug died on (or maybe in) one of the desk lamps in my studio. If you click on the picture you can see that the body is just an empty husk, the insides have been eaten by other bugs.
