These illustrations are from the 1973 edition of Standard First Aid and Personal Safety. I think most first aid/injury illustrations are a little creepy. These are especially weird.
Figure 144 seems to say; "If you find a woman dressed all in red, find some friends and check out her back side. There might be something there worth seeing."
Actually, they're terrifying. Especially the one where the three men are cradling a red-wrapped body...and the sweating man with the bloodless slash on his forehead.
